Thermal-Hydraulic Characteristics of Carbon Dioxide in Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers with Staggered Airfoil Fins

چکیده
Airfoil fin printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHEs) have broad application prospects in the naval, aerospace, electric power, and petrochemical industries. The channel structure is a critical factor affecting their thermal-hydraulic characteristics. In this study, novel PCHE with staggered NACA 0025 airfoil-shaped fins was proposed; accordingly, characteristics of using carbon dioxide as working fluid at different heights under operating conditions (trans-, near-, far-critical) were investigated. results indicated that performance trans-critical condition better than near-critical far-critical conditions. Compared conventional airfoil channels, attained comparable comprehensive while reducing volume by 50%, thus achieving more lightweight design. poorest when height slightly below height, which should be avoided during design PCHEs. provide theoretical support for optimization

Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Characteristics in Straight Microchannel of Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers
Performance tests were carried out for a microchannel printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE), which was fabricated with micro photo-etching and diffusion bonding technologies. The microchannel PCHE was tested for Reynolds numbers in the range of 100‒850 varying the hot-side inlet temperature between 40 °C–50 °C while keeping the cold-side temperature fixed at 20 °C. It was found that the average...
متن کاملThermal-Hydraulic Performance of Metal Foam Heat Exchangers
Due to their large surface-area-to-volume ratio and tortuous structure, metal foams hold promise for heat transfer applications. Both of these factors increase the heat transfer by enhancing the mixing and surface area. The main disadvantage associated with their thermal-hydraulic performance is relatively higher pressure drop, resulting in larger pumping power requirements if they are used in ...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Printed Circuit Board with Thermal Vias: Heat Transfer Characteristics under Nonisothermal Boundary Conditions
A thermal via has been used to enhance the heat transfer through the printed circuit board (PCB). Because the thermal conductivity of a dielectric material is very low, the array of metal vias is placed to make thermal paths in the PCB. This paper describes the numerical analysis of the PCB having metal vias and focuses on the heat transfer characteristics under the nonisothermal boundary condi...

The forced convection heat transfer in high porosity metal-foam filled tube heat exchangers are studied in this paper. The Brinkman Darcy momentum model and two energy equations for both solid and fluid phases in porous media are employed .The study shows that using metal-foams can significantly improve the heat transfer in heat exchangers. Keywords—metal foam, Nusselt number, heat exchanger, h...
